PANAJI: Goa University Won Runners Up position at the West Zone Inter University Football Women Championship 2023-24, organised by I.T.M University, Gwalior held from 22nd to 26th December, 2023.
In the playoff match with group D winners Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Goa University overcame a stiff challenge from the Shivaji University girls via tie breaker Karen Estrocio put Goa University in front at the start of the second half.
Shivaji University equalised with 3 minutes from the end.
In the ensuing tie breaker Goa University triumph 3-2 with Goa University keeper Jossel Mascarenhas saving three spot kicks to take Goa University into the All India Inter University Championship 2023-24.
In the West Zone league, Goa University drew with Mumbai University 1-1 in the first league match. Aniela Barretto being the scorer for Goa University. In their second match Goa University beat University of Kota, Rajasthan 3-0. Pushpa Parab, Karen Estrocio and Aaroshi Govekar were the scorers.
In the last league match, Goa University who needed a win to retain the title were held to a 2-2 draw by LNIPE, Gwalior. Pushpa Parab scored a brace.
