PANAJI: Goa University has approved its tentative Inter Collegiate Sports Calendar for the 2026–27 academic year, setting the stage for a year long sporting season featuring 22 disciplines and 39 championships for men and women. The calendar is aimed at encouraging competitive sports and strengthening athletic participation among affiliated colleges across the state.
The sporting season will begin with the Judo Championships for men and women from July 28 to July 30 at the Sports Authority of Goa’s Multipurpose Hall in Peddem. Competitions throughout the academic year will be hosted at some of Goa’s leading sports facilities, including Sports Authority of Goa complexes at Peddem, Campal, Fatorda and Bambolim, as well as Goa University’s own grounds, indoor stadiums and Jubilee Hall.
The schedule covers a wide variety of sports including Badminton, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Cross Country, Chess, Swimming, Kabaddi, Football, Tennis, Cycling, Athletics, Best Physique, Powerlifting, Basketball, Kho Kho, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball, Baseball and Cricket.
Among the major events, the Football Championships for men and women will commence from September 22 at Goa University, while the Athletics Championships are scheduled from December 15 to 18 at the SAG Athletic Stadium in Bambolim. Basketball, Hockey, Volleyball and Baseball competitions will be held between January and February 2027 across different venues in the state.
The inter collegiate sporting season will conclude with the Cricket Championships for men and women, which are scheduled to begin from March 2, 2027 onwards at the Goa University Ground.
Goa University has advised participating colleges and athletes to contact its Sports Section for tournament related queries and additional information. The university will also provide regular updates, fixtures, schedules and highlights through its official social media platforms, ensuring participants and sports enthusiasts remain informed throughout the academic year.
