MARGAO: Call it a first sign aimed at soft polarization or a just a reminder to drive home the point that the people who had once opposed the Konkan Railway are opposing track doubling project, (MGP) supremo Ramkrishna Dhavalikar on said the same people who had opposed the Konkan railway are today objecting to the track doubling project.
When the media was questioning BJP South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo on her views on track doubling and coal, Dhavalikar intervened saying the same persons who were opposing Konkan railway are now travelling to Mumbai, Delhi and Madras (Chennai).
In addition, Dhavlikar publicly supported the track doubling project by stating, “In the future, the double track will facilitate the trains to run faster.” Even in-demand items like cement will be offered at discounted prices in Goa. Once the trains are operating on the second track, the prices of commodities will decrease by thirty percent. The out-of-track doubling project will benefit every Goan, according to Dhavlikar.
Dhavlikar stated that it is improper to connect the Sagarmala project and track doubling to the transportation of coal, adding that “only coal that is coming into the state with permission will be allowed.” Over the authorized capacity, coal will not be permitted.
