
The government will also decide whether to run the factory on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model or self for better management.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant along with Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar today held the second round of meeting with sugarcane farmers.
Addressing the media, Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar assured that Chief Minister had made it extremely clear that state government would not shut the Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
“The Chief Minister has made it clear that the factory will not be shut. The proposal would be placed before the cabinet on Wednesday, to transfer the factory from Cooperative department to agriculture department for smooth functioning,” Kavlekar said.
Kavlekar further informed that the government is also looking at other perspectives on whether to run the factory on PPP model or by using Central funds under the agriculture sector.
“Many private companies have approached the government and the farmer. We will be looking into this matter,” he added
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Minister has assured the farmers that government will continue to take care of the farmers until the operations at the factory resumes.
