PANAJI: Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phaldesai today announced that the state government has plans to make Panaji city 100 per cent accessible to Persons With disabilities (PwDs).
“The state government has plans to make Panaji city 100 per cent accessible to Persons With Disability (PwD’s). The government has taken up the work to make 45 government buildings easily accessible for Divyangs,” said Phaldesai.
“The government is committed to providing all required support and facilities to the Divyang people in the state. Our Swayampurna Mitras have identified many Divyangs in the state,” he said.
Phal Desai said that over 19,000 Divyang people have been registered with the social welfare department in the state.
“The government has been working on providing medical treatment and other facilities including good education to make them self-reliant,” said Phaldesai.
Meanwhile, the minister informed that the state government has plans to organise the 1st Purple festival for persons with disability.
“The event will be held from 6th to 8th January 2023, and around 5000 people are expected to attend the festival. The Governor has recommended CSR funds for the event,” he informed.
