PONDA: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal marked Ganesh Chaturthi in Goa with visits to the homes of party workers and alliance leaders, including the ancestral residence of Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai, where the two leaders stepped up their political messaging ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Kejriwal visited an AAP volunteer’s residence in Borim and the home of Ponda Assembly president Geetesh Naik before paying his respects at Sardesai’s ancestral house.
Speaking after his visit to Sardesai’s residence, Kejriwal targeted both the BJP and Congress, saying Goans were tired of political defections and accusing the two parties of following what he described as a “Pockets First” approach.
Kejriwal claimed that such politics had contributed to the growth of the builder lobby and harmed Goa’s interests. He said voters would instead choose a “Goa First” approach in the next Assembly election.
He also said AAP and GFP would work together to formulate a roadmap based on issues and priorities identified by Goans.
The remarks come after the alliance’s first video campaign, which sought to draw parallels between the BJP and Congress while highlighting the issue of political defections.
With AAP and GFP now working together as alliance partners, questions over seat-sharing are likely to gain prominence as the election approaches. However, both Kejriwal and Sardesai maintained that it was too early to discuss the details of seat allocation.
The Ganesh Chaturthi visit therefore combined a festive outreach with an early political pitch, as the alliance seeks to position itself as an alternative to the BJP and Congress in Goa.
