PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today announced re-introduce the controversial Bill during the upcoming Winter Assembly session.
CM also announced to delete the word Bhumiputra from the Bhumiputra Adhikarni Bill.
“Bhumi Adhikarini Bill to be withdrawn and reintroduced in Winter session of Assembly with changes,” said CM Sawant in a video message
He further assured to re-name the bill as Goa Bhumi Adhikarini Bill as there were sentiments of many people attached to the word Bhumiputra.
CM also said that the government will accept various suggestions from people for which separate link has been created on GoaOnline.gov.in which is set to be activated from August 4.
“Opposition had opportunity to put across their suggestions to the Bhumiputra Adhikarani Bill; if needed would have even consider sending to Select Committee but they preferred to stage walkout,” he added
Meanwhile, Sawant said that Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarani Bill will give ownership rights to houses constructed on Govt and communidade land.
“Nearly 1.5 lakh household to benefit; Bill is not to facilitate migrants; only those having valid documents to get their name on form XIV,” Sawant said
Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill 2021, passed in the recent assembly session, allows the state to give a dweller a house ownership so that he or she could live with dignity and self respect
