PONDA: Goa Liberation day was celebrated at Kranti Maidan Ponda in the presence of Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, freedom fighter Rohidas Naik, PMC Chairperson Ritesh Naik, Councilors, government officials and students.
Speaking on occasion Minister Ravi Naik urged the Union Defence Ministry and Commanding officer of the Military training camp at Ponda Handover 5500 sq. Mtrs of Ponda Krantimaidan land to PMC.
Ravi further said some three decades back; he made successful attempt to get back the part of Kranti Maidan land in PMC possession from Central Government.
However still a major portion of Kranti Maidan land in possession of the Defence Ministry which he urged to give back to Ponda Municipality.
He said PMC is faced land shortage as it is surrounded by hills and so badly needs the Kranti Maidan land from Defence Ministry to undertake public programme and Public use.
Speaking about Goa Liberation day, he said today Important day, For 450 years Goa was under Portuguese rule, and hundreds of sacrificed freedom fighters to get freedom for us.
“Today country and goa are progressing. PM Modi provided funds for development. Bridge, airport. Thousands of crores for development,” he said.
He urged people not to stage agitation against the development project.
