Panaji: In a major decision, the Bench of Bombay High Court at Goa set aside appointments of 32 Assistant Data Entry Operators (ADEO) in the electricity department citing procedural lapses in the recruitment.
The Court also directed the State to prepare a fresh list based on OM dated 05.03.2007 and issue appointment orders to the 32 most meritorious candidates on or before Jan 31,2021.
The High Court ruled that the appointments in 2016, did not follow proper criteria while preparing final list of selected candidates.
A total of 56 candidates, which had 32 general category and 24 reserved category, were selected.
The petitioner had challenged 32 general category appointments.
It was pointed out that a new criteria which totally deviated from the existing criterion set out through Office Memorandum(OM) dated 05.03.2007 was proposed through a note to the government, a day after the results of the written test, and the new criteria was used for preparing final merit list.
