PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa has issued notice to the Village Panchayat of Candolim over the alleged non-implementation of a demolition order concerning an alleged illegal construction in Candolim.
The matter came up before the Division Bench on August 5 after a writ petition (WP No. 768/2026) was granted urgent circulation. The Court directed the Village Panchayat of Candolim to file its affidavit in response to the petition.
According to the petition, a demolition order was passed by the Deputy Director of Panchayats on September 21, 2021. However, despite the passage of several years, the order has allegedly not been implemented.
The petitioner has approached the High Court seeking directions for the execution of the demolition order and enforcement of the decision passed by the competent authority.
The petition contends that the continued delay in implementing the order raises concerns over compliance with statutory demolition orders and the accountability of public authorities in dealing with alleged illegal constructions.
The matter is expected to be heard further after the Village Panchayat files its response before the High Court.
