PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on M/s Shrem Resorts Pvt Ltd for filing a false affidavit before then with regards to a concert, to be held at Vagator.
The structures put up by Shrem were in blatant violation of the CRZ notification, as the plot falls within the 200-meter NDZ.
The petition has been filed by Roshan Mathias and the Goa Foundation. Mathias and GF were represented by Ms Norma Alvares and Om D’Costa.
The court has directed that the amount be deposited within one week. Of this, Rs 5 lakh each will be donated in favor of two organizations, Anyay Rahit Zingadi a social organization committed to combating human trafficking for sexual exploitation since 1998, and to Street Providence, a registered trust aimed at ending hunger and homelessness in the state which has been operational since 2017.
The GCZMA is granted six weeks’ time to decide the complaint filed by the petitioner on 27.10.2020 and also to submit the site inspection report as well as the compliance report of the orders of this Court passed on 08.12.2021, 09.12.2021, and 23.12.2021. The GCZMA shall also take into consideration the previous orders passed by the Authorities as well as the Courts while deciding the complaint filed by the petitioner.
The division bench, comprising Justices Sadhana S Jadhav and Manish Pitale, also directed that the club premises be de-sealed temporarily on January 13, between 10am and 4pm, to enable Shrem Resorts Pvt Ltd to take out their belongings and dismantle the stage installed. The premises is to be re-sealed after that.
