PANAJI: Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that high-end cabins will be built at Surla and Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary for camping activities by year-end.
Rane chaired a meeting with Luthra, Santosh Kumar, and Sourabh Kumar, along with the Company that specialises in building tents and lodge cabins in the forest.
“We had a thorough discussion pertaining to the development of Surla for camping activities & Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. By the end of the year, we look forward to building high-end cabins, so that people can enjoy the benefits of camping in sanctuary & forest,’ said Rane.
He further informed that the department will complete training for forest guards & local youth who will guide tourists on jungle trails and other forest activities.
These initiatives will be carried out while keeping in mind the interest of local communities, who will partner in these projects, the minister had said.
“We want to develop safari parks in the state by introducing animals in big habitats. But this will not happen overnight. It may take 10 years to set up such parks, as the eco-system has to be developed,” Rane said.
The state government does not want to create zoos in the state, he said.
