SANKHALI: Police have arrested a 38-year-old Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) worker at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Sanquelim for allegedly assaulting the ward in-charge after being questioned about arriving late for duty.
According to the complaint filed by Medical Officer Atul Pai Bir, the incident occurred on July 2, 2025, at around 9.40 am. The accused, Santosh Varak of Sriram Colony, Saleli, reported nearly two hours late. When Ward In-Charge Suresh Sinari (53) questioned him, Varak allegedly abused him with filthy language and slapped him outside the H.O.’s office, obstructing him from performing his lawful duty.
Police have registered offences under Sections 352, 132, and 221 of the BNS 2023.
Varak was placed under arrest at 16.42 hrs the same day.
