PANAJI: The Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) second term examination has begun today, with 19,807 students appearing.
A total of 19,807 students from the Science, Arts, Commerce and Vocational streams will answer the exams conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), which will conclude on March 31.
In the science stream, 2,850 girls and 2,531 boys will answer the exam. Meanwhile, 5066 students from the arts stream and 6079 students from the commerce stream will begin with accountancy.
Around 3,281 students from the vocational stream will also be appearing for the HSSC examination.
The HSSC exams would be conducted at 20 centres across the State.
Goa Board said that it had been observed that some candidates remained absent for the first-term exams of SSC and HSSC in November 2022 without justifying the reason.
However, some have remained absent on medical grounds or participation in the national sports event.” The matter was extensively deliberated in the March 3, 2023 examination committee meeting held at the Board’s office.
The Board further said that if the candidates are absent for the second-term exam, they will be treated as absent in that subject or subjects and the final result will say ‘needs improvement’.
Also, the unsuccessful candidates, irrespective of a number of subjects that needs improvement, would be allowed to appear for the supplementary examination.
