New Delhi: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the viral satirical outfit “Cockroach Janta Party”, has claimed that he fears arrest if he travels to Delhi, alleging that police action could be taken against him immediately upon arrival.
Speaking during an interview with The Red Mike, Dipke said, “I’ll be taken to Tihar Jail the moment I land in Delhi airport,” while discussing the growing popularity and controversy surrounding the digital movement.
The Cockroach Janta Party began as a parody initiative after remarks attributed to Chief Justice Surya Kant sparked widespread debate online. The movement quickly evolved into a larger social media driven campaign attracting significant support from younger users frustrated over unemployment, exam paper leaks and broader governance issues.
On Thursday, the party’s account on X was withheld in India amid its rising popularity. Dipke confirmed the restriction by posting a screenshot showing the account had been blocked within the country.
The term “Cockroach Janta Party” emerged as an online satirical response after comments allegedly referring to unemployed youth and social media activists as “cockroaches” and “parasites” triggered backlash on social media platforms.
Launched on May 16, the movement openly identifies itself as satire, though its manifesto contains several serious political demands. These include preventing former Chief Justices from accepting post retirement Rajya Sabha positions, increasing accountability within the Election Commission, ensuring 50 percent reservation for women in Parliament and ministerial posts, and introducing reforms related to media ownership and employment rights.
Despite its humorous branding and meme driven campaign style, the initiative has rapidly gained traction among Gen Z users online, transforming from a parody page into a wider protest movement discussing political accountability, governance and youth related concerns.
The withholding of the party’s X account has further amplified online discussions around free speech, satire and political expression on digital platforms.
