COLVA: Colva Police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly organising an illegal bull fight in an open field behind the cemetery at Betalbatim on June 19.
As per the complaint lodged by PSI Nikhil Khajnekar of Colva Police Station, the accused — Liyakat Ali Shaikh, a resident of Margao, and Conceico Rodrigues of Benaulim — organised a fight between two bulls, named “Assam” and “Guzzur”, for public entertainment. The incident was conducted in an open area in full public view, and the bulls were incited to fight, thereby subjecting them to cruelty.
Police have booked the accused under Sections 11 (m) and (n) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Varshda Naik Dessai.
