VERNA: Verna Police have registered two separate cases of alleged illegal hill cutting at Cortalim village in Mormugao Taluka following complaints filed by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.
According to police, Krishna Naik, Draftsman Grade II attached to the Office of the Deputy Town Planner, Mormugao Town and Country Planning Department, Vasco, lodged a complaint stating that on June 12, 2026, unknown persons carried out illegal hill cutting at a property bearing Survey No. 167/2-A-14 at Cortalim without obtaining the required approvals and permissions from the Chief Town and Country Planner.
In a second complaint, Naik alleged that unauthorized hill cutting was also undertaken on the same day at another property bearing Survey No. 166/1 at Cortalim village without the mandatory permissions from the Chief Town and Country Planner.
Based on the complaints, Verna Police have registered offences against unknown accused persons and initiated an investigation into the alleged violations.
