QUEPEM: With the panchayat elections just a month away, the issue of illegal hill cutting and development of plots has become the burning issue in the Xeldem and Assolda panchayat areas.
When contacted Xeldem Panchayat Sarpanch Caitan Lima about the issue, he said that the complaint about illegal hill cutting and levelling was made by former Sarpanch and current Panch member Pramod Desai.
“The site where illegal hill cutting took place belongs to the Xeldem panchayat, but a new road was built near the hill cutting area, which belongs to Chandreshwar Bhootnath devastation, so both the property belongs to different panchayats, but the new road which made in devachan property of Avedem panchayat is the only road which is available for to access the place. So now that there is a complaint about this, so the panchayat will definitely take action on it. Currently, the work will be stopped immediately,” he said.
When asked who was responsible for the hill cutting, he said, “I don’t know about it. But when the 1/14 certificate is available.”
He also clarified that the Xeldem Panchayat did not give him any permission, and a special meeting was held on Sunday about this. In the morning, Flying Squad told us that action would be taken after an official inspection.
Quepem Deputy collector Nilesh Daigodhkar while reacting to the hill cutting issue at Nirmalnagar Xeldem, said, on his direction, already inspection has been done under Mamlatdar office, checklist of illegal under section 33(C) of land revenue code conservation.
