COLLEM: Collem Police have registered a case against unknown persons for allegedly carrying out illegal extraction and removal of laterite stone from government revenue and forest land at Aglote in Dharbandora.
The complaint was lodged by Shyam Sawant, Geologist with the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Panaji. According to the complaint, the illegal mining activity took place prior to August 14, 2025, when unknown accused allegedly extracted and removed laterite stone without lawful authority, resulting in the theft of government-owned mineral and causing loss to the State Government.
A case has been registered at Collem Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relevant provisions of the Goa Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1985, and Section 4(1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Rohan Naik of Collem Police Station.
