RAIA: The owners of an illegal scrapyard in Arlem received a show-cause notice from the Raia Village Panchayat after they took serious notice of the illegalities.
Godfrey Oswald Souza, a ward member and deputy Sarpanch, responded to the problem by calling for the scrapyard owner to be fired right away.
It is important to remember that the aforementioned scrapyard has been operating out of this location for a very long time, and locals have been speaking out against it.
Souza claimed that they had discovered salvageable waste being kept at the scrapyard, endangering the health and safety of the neighborhood’s inhabitants.
He also informed that this scrapyard has been operating from the site since 2000. After a complaint was filed by him with the panchayat, he along with the secretary carried out an inspection, followed by a show cause notice to the owner.
During the inspection, it was noticed that salvageable waste which is considered harmful to the humans was traced at the site.
