VASCO: Reacting to the increasing cases of stray dog bites in Vasco, MLA Daji Salkar today urged the locals not to feed the dogs with raw meat while stating that he urged the authorities to immedialtely take action against such feeding activities.
“The incident which happened in unfortunate. The root cause is people feeding raw meat to stray dogs, I have already instructed the Dy Collector and Police to immediately arrest anyone feeding stray dogs with raw meat,’ said Salkar
In a s incident, a pack of stray dogs attacked a 38-year-old woman at Maimollem, Vasco on Tuesday evening, severely injuring her.
The stray dogs bit hapless Bimal Suryavanshi on her hands, legs, back, head head and had to be shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim. She was discharged on Wednesday evening.
The residents and ward councillor Devita Arolkar stated that the incident has happened as the population of stray dogs was on the rise in the locality and have demanded immediate action to end the menace.
Arolkar stated that this was not the first incident of stray dogs attacking people in the area but regular happenings and even a minor was brutally attacked by the canines recently.
“Tuesday’s incident is most shocking and sad. Maimollem is facing the stray dog menace and it is becoming difficult to catch the canines as they flee on seeing the vehicle belonging to People For Animals (PFA),” Arolkar stated.
