New Delhi: A senior aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held key discussions with Indian leadership on advancing efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, met separately with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during his visit to India.
The meetings focused on assessing the current situation in Ukraine and exploring pathways to achieve a lasting and sustainable peace. Umerov briefed Indian officials on developments along the frontline and shared updates on ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict.
India reiterated its consistent position of advocating dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable route to ending hostilities. The discussions underscored New Delhi’s emphasis on a peaceful settlement that ensures long term stability in the region.
In addition to the conflict, both sides reviewed bilateral relations and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation. The talks also revisited commitments made during earlier engagements between President Zelensky and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting continuity in diplomatic efforts.
