New Delhi: On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the victims and reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism, declaring that the nation will never yield to violent threats.
The attack, carried out last year in the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them visitors from different parts of the country. The incident had sent shockwaves across India, prompting widespread grief and outrage.
In his message, the Prime Minister remembered the innocent lives lost in the tragedy and stated that their memory would always remain etched in the nation’s consciousness. He also extended his thoughts to the families of the victims, acknowledging the enduring pain and loss they continue to face.
Emphasising unity, he noted that the country stands together in both mourning and determination. He asserted that acts of terror would never break India’s spirit and that those responsible for such violence would ultimately fail in their objectives.
The attack was attributed to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has been linked to several incidents in the region. In response to the strike, India launched a military operation named Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure and strategic positions in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
The anniversary serves as a moment of remembrance as well as a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to combating terrorism. It highlights the country’s continued focus on security and its resolve to ensure that such attacks do not go unanswered.
As the nation reflects on the events of that day, the message from its leadership remains clear: the fight against terrorism will continue with unwavering determination.
