New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has embarked on a diplomatic mission leading an all-party delegation to five countries, aiming to present a united Indian stance against terrorism. Speaking ahead of his departure on Friday, Tharoor declared, “India will not be silenced by terrorism,” calling the initiative “a mission of peace and hope.”
The delegation will visit Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States, representing a cross-party consensus in India’s fight against terrorism and promoting global awareness about the nation’s zero-tolerance policy.
In a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Tharoor said the trip was to speak for the nation in the wake of a devastating terrorist attack. “We are going to share India’s voice, to ensure the world doesn’t turn a blind eye. We stand for peace, democracy, and freedom—not hatred and terror,” he emphasized.
He stressed the importance of highlighting India’s values on the global stage, adding, “We want the world to be aware, to care, and to act.”
The delegation, briefed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri before departure, is tasked with sensitising international opinion toward India’s position and building solidarity in the global fight against terrorism.
Apart from Tharoor, the delegation includes BJP leaders Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, and Tejasvi Surya; Shambhavi Choudhary of the LJP (Ram Vilas); GM Harish Balayogi of the TDP; Milind Deora of the Shiv Sena; Sarfaraz Ahmad of the JMM; and Taranjit Singh Sandhu, former Indian Ambassador to the United States.
The visit aims to reinforce India’s firm position: terrorism in all its forms must be condemned and countered with unified global resolve. Jai Hind!
