PONDA: Dr Jessy Thomas, who as known as the Missile woman of India for her guided missile technology and novel inventions, said She feels proud to be in Goa to attend the function of engineering students.
She said being connected with the defence system feels that there is a need lot of technological advancement to protect its defence system from intrusions of malware, including viruses and that she has a lot of hope for contribution from IIT, Engineering students for technological safety.
“When I was a student, there was only textbook reading, and through this, I reached missile technology. Today through technological advances, students constantly need to think and imagine introducing new technology,” she said.
Puneet Goel, IAS Chief Secretary Government of Goa, while speaking as chief guest at the exhibition, valedictory, and prize distribution function of Goa Police Hackathon -2022 for engineering and IIT students, urged them to go for novelty of innovations in the fast-changing technological world they have a lot of opportunities where in they can serve their country and also excel in their career.
DGP Goa Jaspal Singh, Prof. B K Mishra, director of IIT and Dr R.B Lohani, Principal of GEC Farmagudi, were present for the function.
Speaking further, he urged the Technical students to keep them updated on technology and go for novelty innovations as technology changes every five years and gets outdated with new ones.
He said naval technology always has demand and career opportunities, which needs hard work.
He said today, innovations are developing so fast compared to past decades.
“Today, we got sophisticated computers, smartphones with innovations. So imagination is the mother of invention,” he said.
He said there is a lot of opportunity for Engineering students in a start-up in Goa.
