MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have registered a case against the driver of a Toyota Innova for allegedly driving rashly and negligently, resulting in serious injuries to a 19-year-old handcart worker at Parra in Bardez.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 9.45 am on July 5 on the internal road from Tinto Parra towards Bhatiwado. The accused, Rohan Gautamji Chakraborty (37), a native of Rajasthan and currently residing in Vagator, was allegedly driving a Toyota Innova (MH-01-EM-7641) in a rash and negligent manner.
Police said the vehicle struck Rakesh Kumar (19), a resident of Lobowado, Parra, originally from Sitamarhi, Bihar, who was pushing his handcart from Bhatiwado towards Tinto Parra.
The impact left Rakesh Kumar with serious bodily injuries. After hitting the handcart worker, the Innova allegedly crashed into the compound wall of the house of Bosco Rodrigues, causing property damage.
Mapusa Police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
