PANAJI: Labour and Employment Minister Babush Monserrate today said that the issue of minimum wages would be solved in the next two months.
“The issue of minimum wages will be solved in the next two months. A committee will be formed in this regard,” said Babush.
He further said that in the other states like Kerala and Delhi, they are much higher.
“We are not even at par with the central government wages,” he said.
The Minister further said that all the workers in the state would be equipped with cards to help them avail the benefit of around 17 welfare schemes.
“Goa Electronics Limited will be assigned the task of making the cards. They will work in sync with the Labour Department,” he added.
Minister said that the minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers would be increased as the salaries have not been increased for the past six years.
