BAGA: A 54-year-old man from Karnataka died after allegedly slipping on his own vomit and sustaining a bleeding injury to his nose at a guest house in Baga, Calangute, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Zakeer Khan, 54, son of Anwar Khan, a resident of Harihar in Davangere, Karnataka.
According to police, Khan and three friends checked into Room No. 107 of Lillas Cottage, Bhiramar Complex, near Nazri Resort, Baga, at around midnight on September 7.
Police said Khan had been consuming alcohol from around 12.30 pm that day. He later vomited on the floor of the room and allegedly slipped on it, falling and sustaining a bleeding injury to his nose.
He subsequently cleaned the room, including his nose and the blood, before going to sleep, police said.
Later, when his friends attempted to wake him, they found him unresponsive. An ambulance was called through the 108 emergency service and Khan was taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Candolim, where he was declared brought dead.
The body was sent to the GMC Morgue at Bambolim for preservation and further medico-legal formalities.
Further enquiry into the incident is in progress. The investigation is being conducted by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar.
