FATORDA: Fatorda Police have registered an FIR against two residents of Borda, Margao, following a complaint alleging that a woman was cheated of ₹60 lakh in connection with a promised residential flat investment.
According to the complaint filed by Josephina M. Mergulhao Fernandes, a resident of Seraulim, Colva, the incident dates back to 2008, when she allegedly invested ₹60 lakh in a business establishment at Borda, Fatorda, operated by accused Pramod V. Barad and Amey Barad.
The complainant alleged that the accused, acting with common intention, dishonestly induced her to invest the amount on the assurance that residential flats would be provided to her.
However, despite the passage of several years, the promised flats were allegedly not provided. The complainant further alleged that the accused also failed to return the ₹60 lakh, resulting in her being cheated of the entire amount.
Fatorda Police have registered a case vide Cr. No. 45/2026 under Section 420 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sachin Patil of Fatorda Police Station.
