A Karnataka resident was detained by the Calangute police on Monday in connection with a November 16 theft at a home in Gaura Vaddo, Calangute.
Three expensive laptops, a watch, and Rs 25,000 in local and international currencies were among the Rs 3.25 lakh worth of stolen goods that were found.
According to Calangute police, Ashley, an Australian tourist, and his family were lodging at Casa Das Imras Villa. The accused, DM Santosha, 27, a resident of Shimoga, Karnataka, is accused of decamped the villa at midnight by taking advantage of the absence of the tourist’s family.
CCTV footage from the villa’s grounds, which displayed the suspect’s face, helped the authorities identify the person. To capture the offenders, a committed Calangute police team collaborated closely with Karnataka police.
The accused, who has a history of stealing around the nation, has been placed under police custody pending additional investigation.
