New Delhi:
In a fiery address at a public meeting in the Narela Assembly constituency, Union Home Minister Amit Shah labeled the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as “Avaidh Aamdaniwali Party,” accusing the party of rampant corruption and misgovernance during its 10-year rule in Delhi. Shah’s remarks were part of the BJP’s aggressive campaign strategy ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled for February 5.
Shah promised that if the BJP wins the upcoming elections, it will free Delhi from illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants within two years. He criticized AAP’s governance, highlighting a slew of alleged scams and failures in key areas such as water supply, education, and healthcare.
Shah alleged that AAP, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, has misused Delhi’s funds for personal gain and to finance electoral campaigns in other states. He accused AAP of indulging in corruption, citing scandals involving the Delhi Jal Board, ration distribution, and the construction of school classrooms. The BJP leader also pointed out the liquor scam, which he claimed involved former Education Minister Manish Sisodia opening liquor shops near schools, temples, and gurdwaras.
The Union Home Minister criticized the AAP government for failing to deliver on its promises, including the cleaning of the Yamuna River, reducing pollution, and providing 24×7 potable water. Shah mocked Kejriwal’s inability to fulfill these promises, saying, “Kejriwal only told lies to get votes… AAP means ‘Avaidh Aamdaniwali Party’ (a party which makes illegal income).”
Shah highlighted the dire state of Delhi’s infrastructure and services under AAP’s rule, mentioning issues such as dirty water supply, severe waterlogging, poor school conditions, and inadequate hospital facilities. He contrasted this with the achievements of the Modi government, emphasizing the BJP’s “double-engine government” as a model of effective governance.
The BJP leader also attacked the lavish renovation of Kejriwal’s official bungalow, describing it as a “Sheesh Mahal” with extravagant spending on designer marble, motorized curtains, and other luxury items. This, Shah argued, was a stark example of AAP’s corruption and mismanagement.
AAP responded to Shah’s allegations by stating that the BJP has conceded defeat in the Assembly polls and lacks a vision or agenda for Delhi’s development. The party argued that the BJP’s campaign is focused solely on abusing Kejriwal rather than addressing the real development needs of Delhi.
The Delhi Assembly polls, set to take place on February 5 with results to be announced on February 8, have seen heightened political tensions. Shah’s remarks are part of the BJP’s strategy to oust AAP from power, promising a better governance model under the BJP’s leadership.
