PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday questioned the investigation into the alleged irregularities linked to the Shri Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya, alleging that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to shield those responsible rather than ensure accountability.
Addressing the issue, Kejriwal said the people of the country deserve to know “who is being protected and why.” He asserted that the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is a place of deep faith for millions of devotees and said every Sanatani should demand complete transparency in the matter.
The AAP leader further stated that the Shri Ram Temple Trust was constituted under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claimed that several of its key office-bearers, including General Secretary Champat Rai, are considered close to the Prime Minister.
Questioning the scope of the investigation, Kejriwal alleged that the SIT had been formed as a cover-up exercise. He claimed that the inquiry had been confined only to the alleged irregularities involving devotees’ offerings, while broader issues and allegations concerning the Trust had not been adequately examined.
Kejriwal reiterated that a comprehensive and impartial investigation was necessary to maintain public confidence and uphold the sanctity of one of the country’s most revered religious institutions.
