PONDA: Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday addressed a Parivartan Sabha at the Old Ponda Bus Stand, urging voters to support AAP in the upcoming by-election and reject both BJP and Congress.
Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal accused the BJP government of neglecting Ponda for the last 14 years and failing to provide basic civic amenities. He alleged that contaminated water with worms was being supplied in Panditwada and challenged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to drink the water. He also raised issues of garbage mismanagement, poor roads, and lack of basic infrastructure in the constituency.
Kejriwal further claimed that an Ayushmann Arogya Mandir near the rally venue has remained shut for over a year without doctors. He said that under an AAP government, residents would receive free and uninterrupted electricity, improved healthcare and better public services. He also alleged that BJP and Congress were working together in Ponda and urged voters to opt for “honest and work-driven politics”.
AAP candidate Geetesh Naik said both BJP and Congress had ruled the constituency for decades but failed to bring meaningful development. He highlighted issues such as contaminated water supply, high electricity bills, poor drainage, lack of parking, pothole-ridden roads and inadequate facilities at ID Hospital. Naik appealed to voters to give AAP eight months to deliver visible development.
AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik said the party has already initiated healthcare-related work in Ponda and assured that issues related to water, electricity, traffic and healthcare would be addressed within six months if AAP is elected.
MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva also addressed the rally, criticising BJP and urging voters to support AAP for change. The rally witnessed participation from party leaders including Gerson Gomes, Sandesh Teleikar-Dessai and Prashant Naik, along with party workers and supporters.
