PANAJI: Minister for Environment Nilesh Cabral said that State is facing onslaught of the Soil erosion at Keri in PernemTaluka, Majorda and Coastal area between Mobor to Betulin Salcete, Betalbatimin Salcete, Kanaginiin Quepem and Coco beach in Bardez.

He further said that the Water Resources Departmenthasentrusted the study of Goa coast foritsbehaviour, erosion pediment transportationetcto National Institute of OceanTechnology (NIOT) in the year 2021underworld bank funded National Hydrology Project.
“The Goa Coastal Management EnvironmentSociety has initiated the processofnourishment of beach stretches (SandMotor)with a agency from Netherlands and requested the expert scientist to visit GoaforthePreliminary study. The studyandtheworkisbeing undertaken with Technical Assistancefrom NIO and NCCR,” he added
Cabral said that Water Resources Department hascarriedout Anti-beach erosion measures havebeenmajorly initiated at Keri (Pernem) byusingtetrapods, Coco-beach at Nerul, Bardez(Concrete Blocks) and Khanaginimbeach (stones) to mitigate the coast erosioncaused by vagaries of the sea waves.
“The effect of sea level riseonGoaisaddressed in the vulnerabilityassessmentinChapters 4 and 5 of the State ActionPlanforClimate Change for the StateofGoa(SAPCC),” he added
