PANAJI: The Labour Department has reiterated that all commercial establishments and firms employing more than 10 workers are required to register under the relevant labour laws, stressing that failure to comply could invite legal action.
Officials said the registration process is essential to ensure workers receive statutory protections and welfare benefits provided under labour regulations. The department has also urged employers to maintain proper employment records and comply with safety and workplace norms.
Authorities stated that inspections and verification drives are being intensified across the state to identify unregistered establishments and ensure implementation of labour laws. Businesses operating without mandatory registration may face penalties and other action under the applicable provisions.
The department further appealed to employers to complete the registration formalities through the designated labour office or online portal at the earliest to avoid complications.
