NARVEM: In a joint operation, the Bicholim police and the Directorate of Mines and Geology raided a laterite stone mine in Narvem-Bicholim and seized equipment used for cutting laterite stones.
Authorities also filed a criminal complaint against unidentified individuals for stealing laterite stones by unlawfully extracting them without authorization from the government. Assistant Geologist Nitin Atoskar of the Directorate of Mines and Geology has filed a complaint in this regard.
Sections 21 of the Mines and Minerals Development Regulation Act, Section 62(2) of the Goa Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, and Section 379 R/w 34 IPC have all been used to register an offense. PI Dinesh Gadekar is guiding Bicholim PSI Viraj Dhauskar’s ongoing investigation.
