PANAJI: MGP Leader Sudin Dhavalikar today said that he accepts the mandate of the people of Goa and has decided to give unconditional support to the BJP to form the next state government.
Dhavalikar also said that the newly entrant Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) created havoc in the state by pulling 10 per cent of the vote share.
“I have consulted with all the stakeholders, and we have decided to give unconditional to the BJP to form the next state government in the state. We have not demanded anything,” said Dhavalikar.
He further said that he spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and other top BJP Leadership and only took one assurance not to break any political party henceforth.
“The BJP top brass has clear cut told me that they will not break any political party henceforth. They said that those who leave any other party and come and join the BJP on themselves, the party will not be responsible,” he added.
Speaking on vote share, Dhavalikar said that their alliance partner Trinamool Congress has managed to get a 10 per cent vote share in Goa just by coming prior 5-6 months before elections.
“They have not managed to win a seat, but they were very close. Even RGP managed to get 10 per cent vote share and they dented many others’ hopes,” Sudin said
Dhavalikar also said that he accepted the defeat of MGP in Goa and his candidates and said that MGP will always stand for its ethics and good work.
“I thank all the voters of Goa and respect their opinion in today’s election results. I am especially thankful to all the local leaders and karyakartas of MG Party for their hard work and dedication, along with all the supporters of MGP,” he said.
No UNANIMITY on CM: Sources
Despite having a clear majority and support of the independents and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantaka Party (MGP), the BJP has not yet staked a claim to form the government.
Sources in the BJP have said that there is no unanimity on the new Legislative Party leader, and hence the decision has been kept on hold.
It is being said that Health Minister, who termed the new CM issue as “sensitive”, has reservations about supporting Pramod Sawant as the new CM.
