PONDA: Locals invite the attention of authorities to Borim – Bethora bypass road, which turned into a death trap due to potholes, cattle movement, and grown-up trees leaning on the road.
The Bethora-Borim bypass on Margao – Belgaum NH, with around 3km strech, has almost turned into a death trap with road developing several potholes.
Recently one huge crater developed at a sharp turn near Borim circle was repaired using Jetpatcher Machine after Goemkarponn Daily Highlighted the issue with locals has appreciated the daily for saving precious lives.
Viraj Sapre social worker who was forefront in raising his voice against crater, now brings to the attention of authorities potholes developed on this road at several places.
He said due to the lack of proper maintenance of roadside gutters, the rainwater flows on the road, and thus roads are developed with craters.
He demanded proper maintenance of the gutter, cutting of bushes, and grown-up trees leaning on the road blocking the vision of vehicles.
Viraj said this road has been passing from the isolated spot, and so people are dumping garbage and turning it into mini Sonsodo. The cattle movement wondering for food from the garbage is inviting accidents.
Among garbage, the non-functional refrigerator and other household goods are also dumped at the roadside. He said authorities should take action and maintain the road clean.
