PONDA:
Tired after making a lot of effort, Shigmoman, Gaunem, Bandora locals have fervently requested the Chief Minister look into the water crisis they face.
People are unhappy over taps running dry for several days, and villagers are agitated over the water crisis.
Villagers whose taps went dry seek clarification as to why they are not getting water when the surrounding villages get a regular water supply.
The villagers said it is now six years since they are getting empty promises.
On the other hand, they said, the Officials of PWD are not giving satisfactory replies and preferring silence on the issue.
The villagers also said they suffered most from erratic water supply with variable timing for the past eight days. The water comes just for half an hour.
The villagers said they could not get enough water in half an hour time and that the water they receive is also at every alternate day. They added that they were getting only empty assurances from the politicians and PWD for the past six years.
Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik said he informed the PWD four months back that citizens face great hardship.
“In February this year, high drama prevailed at Gaunem, Bandora after villagers confined the PWD JE at Gaunem and grilled him with several questions over taps running dry in around 40 houses,” he says.
Sarpanch said, “We inspected the pipeline, but there is very low pressure. Panchayat has informed PWD officials, but nothing is done”.
