PANAJI: Khandepar villagers submit a memorandum to Deputy collector for removal of encroachment at Dangerous OPA Khandepar Junction and make way for construction of bus shed for the safety of school children.
According to locals and PTA members, the PWD has given NOC to construct the bus shed at OPA Khandepar Junction, but due to encroachment by two kiosks in the government acquired land, the bus shed cannot be constructed due to which it becomes an accident-prone zone.
Locals said one company has shown willingness to construct bus shed in above land but subject to the condition that encroachment should be cleared to proceed with work.
As the two kiosks encroached on land meant for bus shed, the hundreds of students were forced to stand on the road where the highway traffic proceeded with high speed posing a risk to the lives of children. Already there is two accident wherein one truck rammed into Hotel while in other case car dashed and injured one student.
The villagers said both kiosks have their licence at the residential address to operate their business but operate by encroaching on government land meant for bus shed.
The villagers demanded to immediately remove the encroachment at dangerous Opa Junction for the safety of hundreds of students waiting for the bus stop at OPA Khandepar Junction.
