PANAJI: The North Goa District Magistrate has declared Lok Bhavan at Dona Paula, along with its coastline and the surrounding area within a 500-metre radius, as a “No-Fly Zone” for all unauthorised drones.
The order was issued by North Goa District Magistrate Ankit Yadav, IAS, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, following a request from the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Panaji.
According to the order, an unidentified flying drone was observed flying over the chapel of Lok Bhavan on July 12, 2026, at around 10.30 pm. Another unidentified drone was subsequently spotted over the Lok Bhavan campus on July 15 at around 12.02 pm.
The police informed the district administration that the operation of unauthorised drones in the Lok Bhavan area posed a threat to the safety and security of the Governor of Goa and the protected premises.
The SDPO had accordingly requested that Lok Bhavan, including the coastline and surrounding area within a 500-metre radius, be notified as a No-Fly Zone for unauthorised drones.
The order, issued on July 24, will remain in force for 60 days from the date of issue unless withdrawn earlier.
The order has been directed to be strictly enforced by the police and other concerned authorities. It has also been forwarded to the Directorate of Information and Publicity, Doordarshan and All India Radio for wider publicity.
Any person contravening the order shall be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
