BETALBHATIM: Colva police have issued lookout notice against the duo whose robbery attempt at Betalbhatim Bunglow on April 15 was captured on CCTV camera.
The lookout notice is in connection with a robbery that occurred on April 22 at a house at Vaswaddo Colwaddo, Benaulim. One Rosario Francisco Rodrigues has complained that Rs 17.96 lakh worth cash and gold ornaments have been stolen by the unidentified duo from his house.
They effected entry in the complainant house by opening the rear door of the house and stole the valuables from the complainants cupboard.
When the owner saw someone using a screwdriver and a crowbar in the CCTV footage she had installed in her home on her phone, she immediately called the caregiver to request help.
The caregiver left the house as soon as she heard the call and called the police at the same time. However, the two robbers jumped over the compound wall to escape after learning that the caretaker would soon arrive. Luckily, the caregiver was able to record their escape on camera.
The camera at the front of the house captured the whole burglary attempt, starting from the moment the thieves tried to break through the door lock.
The Betalbatim Village Panchayat on Monday urged the police to be vigilant and patrol at regular intervals, taking serious note of the botched robbery attempt at Betalbatim in broad daylight.
There was a meeting with the police representatives.Anthony Fernandes, the sarpanch of Betalbatim, asked the police to keep a tight eye on anyone who goes to the beach at night.
A Sunday robbery attempt at a house in Betalbatim was thwarted by the vigilant London-based homeowners who were able to witness the attempt via the home’s CCTV system.
