MARGAO: The cause of death in the post-mortem examination report of Bihar native Kanahiya Kumar Mandal’s death has been questioned in some quarters. Dr. Madhu Ghodkirekar, the head of the forensic department at South District Hospital, stated on Facebook that it is very simple to give a “fifty-fifty” opinion in an autopsy report.
But Dr. Madhu, a forensic medicine professor at Goa Medical College, contended, “When we use words like ‘postmortem run over,’ we not only put our personal reputation at stake but also of the medical literature, on which we give such decisive opinions.”
“I am not commenting on our autopsy findings, but one thing I have to say over here is that it is very easy to give ‘fifty–fifty’ type of opinion in autopsy report,” the professor of forensic medicine wrote on Facebook. However, when we make statements like “postmortem run over,” we jeopardize not only our reputation but also that of the medical literature, which serves as the foundation for our strongly held beliefs.
