PANAJI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will attend the Goa Statehood Day celebrations on May 30, 2025, following a formal invitation extended by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar.
The announcement was made by Patkar after a strategic meeting held in Bengaluru with Kharge and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader Yuri Alemao. The Congress President graciously accepted the invitation, and his confirmed presence at the event is expected to serve as a morale booster for party workers and supporters across Goa.
“The visit of Shri Kharge Ji will be a moment of immense pride and inspiration for the people of Goa and the Congress cadre,” said Patkar.
The leaders also held detailed discussions on the prevailing political climate in the state. Issues of alleged misgovernance and anti-people policies under the BJP-led government were raised, along with rising public discontent.
According to Patkar, the meeting also focused on planning for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections. The Congress leadership is aiming to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and present a viable, people-centric alternative to the current government.
“Shri Kharge Ji’s unwavering faith in the Goa Congress leadership is a great source of strength. His upcoming visit will energise our cadre and inspire confidence throughout the Goa Congress organisation,” Patkar said.
He added that the party is committed to reclaiming Goa’s future through unity, determination, and a renewed focus on good governance.
The GPCC looks forward to welcoming Kharge at the Statehood Day celebrations and reaffirming its commitment to protecting Goa’s identity, democratic values, and the rights of its citizens.
