Panaji: A 77-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his rented villa in North Goa’s Marra in a suspected robbery bid on Sunday, police said.
According to officials, on Sunday, Seema Singh reported the death of NS Dhillon residing in Orda Candolim at Villa Horizon Azura in Marra, Pilerne under suspicious circumstances.
Following information, a team of police reached the spot and recovered the victim’s body from his room. There were injuries on the body.
Officials said that prima facie it appears to be a case of robbery and murder.
Although Dhillon lived alone, he frequently hosted guests, including the night before his death. The examination revealed missing jewellery, a mobile phone, and a rented car belonging to Dhillon, they said.
Further investigation led to the tracking of the missing rent-a-car in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, where a group of people have been detained by the Crime Branch on suspicion.
A case has been registered and we are further looking into the incident, they added.
Meanwhile, Nims Badal, after committing a murder, fled in a white Fortuner car with a missing number plate and a significant amount of cash.
Acting on information received, Senior Police Inspector Abbasahab Patil and his team detained a 32-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman at the Ghodbunder Road in Palghar, Mumbai.
According to the information obtained from their statements, the accused were invited by a person named Nims Badal from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, to stay at their villa in Goa.
On the night of February 2, 2024, Nims Badal allegedly attempted an illicit act on the woman, leading to a heated argument.
In the ensuing struggle, the woman claimed to have killed Nims Badal with the Fortuner car’s handle, leaving bloodstains on the car and taking away the mobile phone. Subsequently, the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Abbasahab Patil, detained the suspects and seized evidence.
The persons of the apprehended suspects are:
1) Male, 32 years, occupation – Stock market trading, Ra. Aman Colony, near Sangam Tent House, Tehsil: Huzur, Dist: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
2) Female, 22 years, occupation – Job, Ra. Navin Colony, near Sangam Tent House, Tehsil: Huzur, Dist: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
The seized cash amount is INR 47,82,000. The current investigation is led by Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Assistant Police Commissioner Sanjay Anpure, Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Dipak Sakore, Assistant Police Commissioner (Crime) Amit Kale, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gajanan Rathod, under the guidance of Crime Branch Inspector Abbasahab Patil, along with Police Inspector Sachin Barate, Balaji Chavan, Sumant Bangar, Vishwas Bhoir, and Ajay Wagh.
