PORVORIM: A 40-year-old man was arrested by Porvorim Police after he was allegedly found in possession of 159 grams of suspected ganja during a narcotics raid conducted near Nana Nani Park in Porvorim on July 8.
The accused has been identified as Mithlesh Bhagat, a native of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, presently residing near Art Park, Porvorim.
Police said the raid was carried out between 5.20 pm and 8 pm by a team led by PSI Sachin Shirodkar. During the operation, officers allegedly recovered a dried greenish leafy substance with flowering and fruiting tops suspected to be ganja, weighing 159 grams, with an estimated international market value of around ₹19,000.
The contraband and other articles were seized under a panchanama. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Arun Shirodkar.
