SINQEURIM: A 25-year-old man was arrested by Calangute Police after he was allegedly found in possession of over one kilogram of suspected ganja during a narcotics raid near the Aguada Helipad in Sinquerim on Friday night.
According to police, the offence was registered at 11.20 pm on July 4, 2026, based on a state complaint filed by PSI Vighnesh V. Naik of Calangute Police Station.
Police said that between 8.30 pm and 9.00 pm, a search was conducted on the shoulder bag carried by the accused, identified as Rahul Khan (25), currently residing at Mendes Vaddo, Nagao, Bardez, and originally from Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh.
During the search, officers allegedly recovered 1,060 grams of a green leafy substance with flowering and fruiting tops suspected to be ganja. The contraband, estimated to be worth ₹1 lakh, was seized under a seizure panchanama in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The accused was arrested at 11.23 pm after following the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.
