SHIRGAO: A 44-year-old man from Shirgao sustained a bleeding injury after he was allegedly assaulted with the barrel of a firearm during a quarrel at a bar in Poira, Bicholim.
According to Bicholim Police, complainant Yaduvir Madhukar Gaonkar, a plumber and resident of Madhalawada, Shirgao, lodged a complaint alleging that the incident occurred at around 9 pm on June 5 at Uttam Pole Bar and Restaurant, Poira.
Police stated that the accused, identified as brothers Prajyot Laxman Gaonkar (42) and Girish Laxman Gaonkar (43), both residents of Madhalawada, Shirgao, allegedly picked up a quarrel with the complainant while he was seated at the establishment.
During the altercation, accused Girish Gaonkar allegedly pulled the complainant’s T-shirt and pushed him to the ground. Subsequently, accused Prajyot Gaonkar allegedly abused and threatened the complainant before striking him on the forehead with the barrel of a firearm, causing a bleeding injury.
Following the incident, both accused reportedly fled the scene on a scooter.
Bicholim Police have registered a case, and further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Archan Sharma.
