CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered a case of alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust against a man accused of taking possession of electronic devices worth ₹21.60 lakh from a mobile phone reseller and failing to make payment.
According to the complaint lodged by Shubham Ramkumar Pandey, a resident of Ambegal, Ponda, the incident occurred on January 10, 2026, at around 9 pm at Phone Reseller, Shop No. 2/123, Ida Maria Resort, near HDFC Bank, opposite Nitya Resort, Calangute.
Police said the accused, identified as Nitman Kingrani, allegedly visited the shop and selected 21 second-hand electronic devices, including multiple Apple iPhones, Samsung mobile phones and one iPad, collectively valued at ₹21.60 lakh.
The accused allegedly assured the complainant’s staff that payment would be made in cash within two days and handed over two cheques drawn on IDFC Bank as security. Trusting his representation, the staff delivered the devices to him.
However, police said the accused subsequently failed to make the promised payment and also did not return the devices, resulting in a substantial financial loss to the complainant.
Based on the complaint, Calangute Police have registered an offence against the accused for alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust.
