VERNA: Verna Police have registered a case against Charlton Braganza, a resident of Siolim, Bardez, for allegedly harassing and defaming a woman from Sancoale through WhatsApp messages, objectionable memes and emails.
According to the complaint, the alleged incidents took place between August 11, 2025, and November 2, 2026, at Shindolim, Sancoale.
The complainant alleged that the accused created a WhatsApp group using his mobile phone and circulated memes portraying her as a scammer. He allegedly posted vulgar messages in the group and also sent emails from his email account to the complainant and several other persons, making indecent remarks about her character.
The accused allegedly insulted the woman’s modesty and defamed her as well as her family members through these communications.
Verna Police have registered a case under Sections 75(1)(iv), 79 and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI David Costa of Verna Police Station.
